Emergency services have been sent to two crashes in Inverness.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Officers are currently in attendance following a two-vehicle crash which happened on Barn Church Road, Inverness, at around 6.10pm.

"The ambulance service have been called to the scene and recovery arranged for the vehicles.

"Traffic management is ongoing at the scene."

And they added: "We were called to a crash involving two cars at the junction of Tower Road and Culloden Road in Inverness at around 3.45pm.

"One person has been taken to hospital."

Inverness South councillor Ken Gowans said of the earlier crash: "This is another of many such accidents and I have been asking for seven years for traffic lights and road calming measures on the stretch of road.

"I have written to senior council offers, yet again, demanding this move forward at pace. Coincidently, I have a meeting set up to discuss this in October and will not be taking 'no' for answer, to safeguard the community.

"I just hope that there were no serious injuries sustained in this latest incident, my thoughts are with all those involved."
