AN Inverness-shire community has rallied round to ensure that local young ones enjoy a fun Halloween experience despite the Covid restrictions.

The Strathglass area is very supportive of each other and this has been seen recently in the generous donations from the local communities of Cannich, Tomich, Kerrow and Fasnakyle to the children’s Halloween school party.

The staff at Cannich Bridge Primary were aware that although the children were very supportive of the rules this Hallowe’en and did not want to endanger any vulnerable people, they were sad at not being able to dress up and go guising which is well supported in the village.

The staff believe that having a Halloween as usual was good for mental health and wellbeing of the youngsters, and understanding the limitations of outside school events which would normally take place, it was decided to hold a Halloween party in each class tomorrow. (Friday)

Head techer Amanda Graham, approached the local Spar shop and they agreed to help the school appeal by having a donations box for members of the local community to donate goodies for the children to take home.

Nicole Collins from the Spar Shop said: “We didn’t want the children to miss out on this great Scottish tradition and we knew that our local community would rally round to help make Halloween special for the wee ones.”

Four crates of goodies have been supplied by the community and have been bagged up ready for the pupils to take home after the party.

Mrs Graham said: "We are so delighted and completely overwhelmed by the generosity of our lovely friends, neighbours and local businesses. It is reassuring to know that the mental health and wellbeing of our children is important to our community and we look forward to having a great party.”
