AN Inverness pub has a growing reputation as the place to be not just for discerning drinkers but their four-legged pals as well.

The Black Isle Bar on the city’s Church Street is well-known for its wide selection of craft beers, courtesy of owner the Black Isle Brewery.

Now, however, it is also becoming known as one of the city’s most welcoming hostelries for dog owners too, as our pictures clearly show.

General manager Andy Simpson was happy to welcome Wispa, Myrtle and Tusker earlier this week as just the latest canines to make themselves at home at the bar.

“It is something that has just grown,” he said.

“As bar manager I wasn’t very sure the first time somebody appeared with a dog, but when I spoke to the pub owners about it they were clear that of course dogs are welcome, so we’ve been open to them ever since.

“We didn’t plan it as such but now people are getting to know us as the bar where you’re welcome to bring your dog in with you. It’s a nice thing to be able to do.”

Pictures of visiting dogs often make it on to the pub’s Facebook and Twitter accounts.

Mr Simpson added that it is not just their owners that the pub takes care of on the drink front.

“We put water bowls down for the dogs to make sure they have something to drink when they come in as well – though we have stopped short of feeding them so far!”
