TRAIN passengers travelling from Inverness to Edinburgh on this morning’s early service faced frustration after cancellation.

ScotRail blamed two faulty trains for the problem on the 5.36 am service, with passengers forced to find alternative means of travel or take the later 6.48 am train.

All other Scotrail services in, and to and from the north appeared to be running as normal.

Freezing temperatures were also affecting bus services in and around the city.

Stagecoach warned passengers to be prepared for possible delays or cancellations, but a spokesman stressed: “We have just put out a general warning regarding road conditions, just so people are aware there could be delays or slightly longer journey times.

“Untreated roads in certain area have affected a few routes in and around Inverness in the last few days, but everything is currently running as scheduled.”
