Call for new Post Office for Dalneigh after latest branch closure in Inverness

Dalneigh residents are facing having to make a journey either to the city centre or Merkinch after their local Post Office closed.
Councillor Alex Graham, who represents the Inverness West ward on Highland Council, expressed concern following the closure of the branch, which was in the local Spar shop in Montague Row, following the resignation of the postmaster on March 3.
Cllr Graham said: “This leaves the whole area of Dalneigh and adjoining neighbourhoods with no Post Office service. The nearest branches are in Lochalsh Road and the main office at Queensgate.
"This is not acceptable as none of the other sub-offices are accessible for Dalneigh, Ballifeary or the Riverside area.
“The Post Office must take steps to ensure that Post Office provision is quickly restored to serve the public in these areas, at other premises which are convenient and accessible for local residents."
A Post Office spokeswoman said: “Dalneigh Post Office is temporarily closed due to the resignation of the postmaster and the withdrawal of the premises for Post Office use.
"We apologise for any inconvenience caused by the temporary closure. We are working hard to restore Post Office service as soon as possible. In the interim alternative Post Offices include Inverness and Merkinch."
