Highland and Islands Airports Limited's (Hial) communication on the potential centralisation of Air Traffic Control Services has been "dreadful" according to Ariane Burgess MSP.

Representatives from the Prospect union and Hial met on Friday to discuss ways to find a mutually agreeable solution to modernising air traffic control services in the Highlands and Islands.

Although Prospect has ruled out strike action while talks are ongoing members will be continuing to work-to-rule.

Scottish Greens Highlands and Islands MSP Ariane Burgess said: “I'm heartened to hear that both Prospect and Hial found the meeting last Friday to be constructive and that they will continue to work together to find a mutually agreeable solution to modernising air traffic control services in the Highlands and Islands.

"Communication about the modernising of the air traffic control services has been dreadful on Hial's part and I look forward to hearing what constructive progress comes out of these talks.”
