An Talla gets go-ahead for new food truck near Caledonian Canal at Dochgarroch south of Inverness

A popular café and shop just off the A82 is set to open a new outdoor food and refreshment offering.

An Talla, beside the Caledonian Canal at Dochgarroch, has gained planning consent from Highland Council to place a mobile-style food truck within the grounds, close to where a Miele’s ice cream hut is already situated.

The Jacobite Cruises-owned venture is already a huge draw to locals and visitors alike, including tour parties and those using the canal banks for exercise.

Currently, there is a restaurant within the premises with seating inside and out, but the new food truck would offer a more casual dining experience in the gardens.

Highland Council planners using delegated powers granted five-year permission for the outlet, which will have 15 square metres of floorspace within a 70sq metre footprint inside the grounds.

Planners made it a condition of approval that the development must commence within three years of the decision notice.

They also stipulated that the project should not commence before a scheme for the storage and disposal of refuse and recycling is approved by the planning authority, ensuring waste is managed in a sustainable manner.

No-one from An Talla was available to comment.
