Inverness’s Ember Kafé owner issues ultimatum to Highland tip jar thief: “Make amends or we’ll give CCTV footage of you in the act to Police Scotland”
A “disgusting” thief who targeted an Inverness cafe’s tip jar has been given an ultimatum by the owner - return the cash or we’ll post CCTV of you online!
Ember Kafe’s owner Azhar Khan took to the business’ Facebook page this weekend to highlighted the crime and attempt to shame the culprit to “make amends”.
He said: “Dear Tip Thief, I have been informed by my team someone has stolen cash from their tip jar this week. While this is disgusting behaviour we will give you a chance to make amends.
“After [trawling[ through hours of CCTV we have your face on camera.
“Return the money by 5pm on Sunday or the police will be informed on Monday morning. With CCTV passed to them for us to pursue theft charges.”
Mr Khan added that he was “absolutely horrified to hear this [sort of theft] Is still happening in Inverness”.
Mr Khan issued his warning at 1.17pm on Saturday and the post was still up at 2.55pm on Sunday, with no further update posted in-between.
The clock, it would seem, is still ticking. At the time of writing, the thief had barely two hours left. Will they do the right thing?
