A BY-election to fill former council leader Drew Hendry’s vacant Aird and Loch Ness ward seat will be held in October.

Mr Hendry stood down from his seat after the SNP councillor was elected MP for the Inverness, Nairn, Badenoch and Strathspey constituency in May’s General Election.

The formal notice of election will be published on Thursday 20th August, with the by-election being held on Thursday 8th October. The votes will be counted the following day.

The ward has four council seats. The other members are Helen Carmichael (Independent), Margaret Davidson (Independent) and Hamish Wood (Scottish Liberal Democrat).
