THE owner of one of Inverness city centre’s longest-established businesses was glad to finally be able to welcome customers back in store this week.

Despite the lockdown Michael Freeman, of the Panasonic store in Academy Street, said customers had been keeping in touch – and he had not forgotten them either.

“Businesses up and down the country – especially in the north of Scotland – look after people,” he said. “You can’t just lock down and switch things off after 25 years in Academy Street.

“There have been a lot of customers who have needed help, guidance and deliveries as well. While being closed, we’ve actually been quite busy.”

Currently opening from 10am-4pm daily, Mr Freeman admitted things were slower than normal on Monday but he was confident business would pick up again.

“It is early days and the folk are out there,” he said.

Work in-store to comply with guidelines includes the creation of a separate entrance and exit and provision of hand sanitiser.

“We will still want it to be an honest experience for customers, but there will be physical distancing in store,” Mr Freeman added.
