Business leaders serve ‘jail time’ to raise funds for cancer support at Maggie’s Highlands
Leading business bosses from across the Highlands are set to serve ‘time’ to raise funds for cancer support charity Maggie’s.
The Jail or Bail event will see participants ‘locked up’ for a range of ‘crimes’ including “smelly lunches” and “moonlighting for the competition”, until they have raised enough money to be released.
All the fundraising ‘inmates’ will be ‘locked up’ at a secret location where they will be placed ‘behind bars, have mug shots taken and face a judge to have their ‘bail’ set which will vary depending on the crime.
One of the inmates, Iain Sutherland MBE who is area sales manager at Norscot, is facing charges of “Loch Ness sales monster: for being a sales powerhouse, it’s almost mythical”.
He said: “I have chosen to participate in Maggie’s Highlands Jail or Bail event to show my commitment to a cause close to the hearts of many at Norscot. As Norscot's Charity of the Year, Maggie’s Highlands provides essential support to those affected by cancer – a reality that touches more lives than many might realise.
“By participating in this unique event, I hope to raise funds and awareness for this invaluable local charity, highlighting the importance of community support for individuals and families facing cancer and the meaningful impact that Maggie’s makes throughout the Highlands.”
Other business leaders participating in this unique fundraiser are Yvonne Crook, Marc Gardiner, Jeremy Matte, Ian MacDonald, Abbie Maccahill, Graham Clark, Annabelle Gauntlett and Andrew Still.
Maggie’s Highlands centre fundraising manager Andrew Benjamin said: “We are so excited to launch our Jail or Bail event to raise vital funds to help us support people living with cancer.
“The majority of our funding comes from voluntary donations so we are always looking for new, innovative and, of course, fun ways of engaging with companies who are looking to give back.
“Jail or Bail has captured the business community’s imagination and will help us ensure people living with cancer, as well as family and friends, will have the support they need at what is possibly the hardest time of their lives.”
The Jail or Bail event will take place on Friday, November 15, and will be live-streamed on the Maggie’s Highlands Facebook page so friends, colleagues, and everyone around the Highlands can watch and help raise vital funds.
People can also support Maggie’s while helping to free the ‘inmates’ by visiting the Jail or Bail Just Giving Page when it goes live on Friday. A link will soon be available on the centre’s social media channels.
