The Captain’s Table in Findhorn bans two individuals for life after gelato theft as Police Scotland say enquiries at ‘early stage’

Police say enquiries are at an “early stage” regarding an alleged theft from a business near a boatyard.

The Captain’s Table, based in Findhorn, says it has banned two individuals for life from frequenting any of their establishments after they ignored the parlour’s closed sign and helped themselves to scoops of gelato.

A now-deleted Facebook post featured CCTV images of the suspects.

The business says it has removed the images and the post “as a good will gesture” adding that police will be dealing with the matter moving forward following the pair’s alleged identification.

An updated post from the business reads: “We would like to drive home that they remain banned from all Paterson establishments and their desperate need for gelato while the parlour is closed has cost us more than the scoops they took.

“We have also had to rethink the security within the building which is a very sad day as we live in such a lovely community and wouldn’t have expected anyone to behave in this manner.”

Police have confirmed that they were made aware of the incident on Sunday.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "At around 10.50am on Sunday, October 6, 2024 we were made aware of a theft from a premises in the boatyard area of Findhorn. Enquiries are at an early stage."
