PLEAS for a better bus service to Holm and Lochardil have been made to Stagecoach bosses.

More than 60 people from Lochardil and Drummond, and Holm community council areas, raised concerns about proposed changes at a meeting at Inverness Royal Academy.

Lochardil and Drummond Community Council chairwoman Maria De La Torre said: “The meeting was good. We had a good turnout of 50-60 people which shows the strength of feeling about the issue.

“Two of Stagecoach’s senior staff came to the meeting. There were a number of key points that we raised. We asked about the reliability and the punctuality of the bus service. We heard of situations, such as breakdowns and buses not being replaced when people were not told what was happening.

“Buses were not always on time, and there was limited communication with bus users when this happened.”

The meeting also heard concerns about the size of buses used on the route.

Users said the double decker was too big for small streets, while the smaller 25-seater bus was a problem for people with disabilities to access.

A Stagecoach spokeswoman said: “We were delighted to attend the community council meeting which had a focus on transport.

“Following our public consultation in December we have made a series of improvements to the network in Inverness. We have no further plans to revise the service once these changes begin operation on February 10.

“Some journeys will operate using a double decker on weekdays due to school bus commitments. Customers can track their bus live on our mobile app or on the Twitter feed @StagecoachHLand.”
