IT’S party time in Inverness this weekend as the city gets set for three days of fun to which everyone is welcome.

For the first time formally bringing together the old and the new, the Highland Games at the city’s Bught Park on Saturday will be followed by the second outing for Proud Ness – the north’s biggest celebration of its LGBT+ population – at the same venue on Sunday.

Last October the first Pride gathering in Inverness attracted more than 6000 supporters and organisers will be hoping for an even bigger turnout this time.

Proud Ness starts with a parade to the park from the city’s Crown Primary at 1pm and has already attracted a host of official backing, with LifeScan – Inverness’s biggest private sector employer – signed up as official sponsor.

Inverness Caledonian Thistle are also flying the rainbow flag this weekend and Eden Court theatre and the Revolution bar in Church Street will both host official after parties.

The weekend-long party starts tonight with events at Eden Court and the Northern Meeting Park.
