Burst water pipe in Inverness

AROUND 200 homes in Cradlehall and Westhill were left without water for a short time this morning after a mains supply was accidentally cut.

Members of the public reported a drop to “little or no” household water pressure from after 11am this morning.

A building contractor working at Cradlehall Park had mistakenly severed the supply.

But repair work to isolate the leakage means only an estimated 15 properties near the site of the breach are still experiencing problems.

A Scottish Water spokesman said: “We are currently repairing a burst water pipe on Cradlehall Park, which is causing the interruption to the water supply for customers in Westhill, Inverness.

“While we carry out the repair, please be aware that you may experience no water supply, low/intermittent pressure or discoloured water.

“At present we expect to complete the repair in a timeframe which means we do not plan to provide bottled at distribution locations.

“Our local team attended quickly and isolated the damaged section of water main in order to allow the network to recover and restore normal supply to the great majority of customers initially affected.

“A team is on site, working to complete a full repair which will enable supply to be restored to around 15 homes still affected.

“We would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank customers for their patience while we work to restore normal service as quickly as possible.”

A full repair is expected by 3.30pm today.
