A BT payphone based on Church Street is set to be removed due to being underused.

The payphone is currently one of 49 public kiosks in Inverness.

BT is currently reviewing its payphones estate across the UK and removing those that are not frequently used.

The guidance ensures that where payphones are providing an essential service for communities they will remain in place.

Members of the public who have expressed concerns about the appearance of other payphone kiosks are being encouraged to report this to BT to allow its team to carry out a cleaning process and ensure the kiosks are presentable and functional for communities.

Communities and charities are able to adopt red kiosks for only £1, so that they can transform them into things like lifesaving heart defibrillator units or libraries.
