A coastguard helicopter and emergency services are at the scene of a police incident that has forced the closure of the Kessock Bridge in a northbound direction.

The nature of the alert has not yet been disclosed, but the partial closure of the A9 carriageway was reported by Traffic Scotland at 7.13 pm this evening.

It is understood the RNLI North Kessock lifeboat has also launched.

Motorists are being warned to avoid the Beauly Firth crossing where possible.
