A major Inverness city centre road has been closed by police after reports of an accident.

Castle Street has been blocked at the Town House and at the junction with Culduthel Road and View Place beside the Castle Tavern.

Police and an ambulance are present.

A witness said: “Police and an ambulance are there and there seems to have been some sort of an accident.

“There is a single crowd barrier and police van at the top of Castle Street at the lights and at the bottom end there is a police vehicle across the road near McDonald’s.”

Large vehicles are being supervised in making an exit from the area, with all other traffic stopped and turned away.

Bus firm Stagecoach has had to re-route some of its services.

Police Scotland have been contacted for details.
