Scottish Fire and Rescue crews tackle Black Isle farm buildings blaze at Balblair near Cromarty

Firefighters are tackling a blaze in farm buildings on the Black Isle.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service says it has sent four appliances to the fire in the Balblair area, seven miles west of Cromarty and just across the water from Invergordon.

The alarm was raised around 10.30 am today.

Smoke has been visible high in clear skies over the Black Isle, with social media users from Evanton, Tain and Invergordon reporting seeing the smoke and emergency service blue flashing lights across the Cromarty Firth.

A SFRS spokesman said: “We are in attendance at a fire in farm buildings near Balblair.

“We were contacted at 10.35 am and have sent four appliances, two from Dingwall and two from Inverness.”
