BREAKING: Chaos hits Inverness, Skye and West Ross-shire as the count is abandoned until tomorrow morning

The Inverness, Skye and West Ross-shire count had descended into chaos and has been abandoned until tomorrow following a recount and extensive delays.

There is currently no word on what the exact problem or problems are though they appear significant enough to force further delays and possibly another recount.

Liberal Democrat is privately acknowledged to have been the likely winner of Inverness, Skye and West Ross-shire

The decision may have been forced on the returning officer because staff have now been on duty since at least 10pm last night and have already been asked to count the ballots twice - a third time may be unfeasible.

Earlier a ‘discrepancy’ emerged but an initial check was ‘unable to resolve the statistical anomaly’ - that anomaly has now totally derailed the announcement of who won.
