The returning officer has declared an official recount in the race for the Inverness, Skye and West Ross-shire seat.

Earlier, a vote check - technically called an accountancy check - was undertaken after a ‘discrepancy’ was found between the verified vote tally and the actual vote tally.

But now it has emerged that staff were “unable to resolve the statistical anomaly” so that mean there will be a likely delay of another 90 minutes before we know the winner.
