Inverness booze thief won’t have to pay his fine

A 25-year-old Inverness man who stole £15.60 worth of alcohol from a Co-op supermarket was fined £270 at Inverness Sheriff Court.

But Ryan Renicks, of Kessock Avenue, won't have to pay the financial penalty as he is currently serving a nine-month jail sentence.

Renicks admitted theft by shoplifting from the Church Street, Inverness branch on August 26, last year and Sheriff Sara Matheson imposed the 14-day prison alternative in view of his circumstances.
