Give Blood are asking locals in Inverness to help give blood.

Locals are invited to Raigmore this Sunday, November 28, to help the efforts.

Dr Sylvia Armstrong-Fisher, from The Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service (SNBTS) said, "Blood has a shelf life of only 35 days, and cannot be stockpiled, so we need you to come forward and help build stocks in the run up to Christmas. As part of this, we aim to welcome an increased number of donors at our blood donor centre at Raigmore Hospital over the coming days and weeks.

"Currently, we have lots of appointments available at Raigmore for the month ahead, including this Sunday, and I’d like to ask everyone who can to contact us and book your appointment. A wide variety of appointment times are available, and there is free parking on the site.

"We aim to retain six days supply of all 8 blood groups stock to help meet the needs of patients in Scotland. At this moment in time, we’re particularly keen to see donors who have the A+ or O blood groups. We would also love to welcome new donors, or to welcome you back if you haven’t given for some time. Please do give the Christmas gift that lasts a lifetime."

Donated blood can help save lives.

To book an appointment, call 0345 90 90 999 or visit the website.
