Scottish Fire and Rescue Service say Black Isle farm blaze visible across Cromarty Firth caused by car in shed catching fire
A blaze in a farm building visible today for miles across the Black Isle and parts of Easter Ross was caused by a car catching fire.
Scottish Fire and Rescue Service crews from Dingwall and Inverness spent almost five hours extinguishing the flames and making safe the property in the Balbair area, seven miles from Cromarty.
It is understood nobody, and no livestock, was harmed in the incident.
Reports of the fire were first received at 10.35 am with members of the public across the firth in Evanton and Invergordon taking to social media to express concern.
Four appliances - two from Dingwall and two from Inverness - were at the scene with the last crew leaving at 3.07 pm.
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman said: “We were alerted at 10.35am on Friday, February 7 to reports of a car within a shed on fire at a farm at Balblair, Dingwall.
“Operations Control mobilised four fire appliances and firefighters worked to extinguish a fire affecting a vehicle and agricultural equipment within a detached shed.
“There are no reported casualties.”
