Nairn community choir The Accidentals delighted to hand over donations from Christmas carol fundraiser to Cash for Kids and Nairn League of Friends
A Nairn choir has welcomed a record-breaking fundraiser from their latest Christmas concert whose funds helped support children in need and hospital patients.
Community choir The Accidentals surpassed all its previous fundraisers with almost £2000 raised at their carols concert in December.
Funds were split between MFR Cash for Kids and the League of Friends for Nairn Town and County Hospital.
Lauren MacInnes, charity executive from Cash for Kids said: “We are so thankful for the donation as this really helped us at the end of Mission Christmas. Every year we struggle for teenage boys and 2004 was no different.
“The money was used to go out and buy gifts for teenage boys who sadly would wake up on Christmas morning with nothing. In 2004 we supported 52 children in Nairn alone, supporting 2040 across the Highlands, Moray and Aberdeenshire.”
Elsa Fraser, board member from the Town and County League of Friends commented: “We are most grateful for the donation, it will help us to continue to support the work done at the hospital by providing support to the patients and the staff so they an continue to offer such a wonderful service to the town.
“It will be put to good use and by all areas of the hospital.”
The Accidental’s choir secretary, Cath Stevenson, said: “During the concert we heard from both charities on their work and were shocked to hear of the number of referrals that MFR Cash for Kids had received for Nairn alone so we took the decision to get their donation to them the following week rather than wait until the New Year for the presentation.”
The Accidentals’ next performance will be at an event in aid of the Nairn Beach Wheelchairs charity at Inverness Cathedral on Saturday, March 29 at 7.30pm, with tickets (£5) available to purchase from the Wool Shop or at the door on the night.
