A family run Inverness bakery firm has been given permission to extend premises in Cradlehall.

The Three Little Bakers, which also has an outlet in Harbour Road, gained permission for the expansion despite a council officer noting it would “inconvenience” parents and children on their way to and from a nearby school.

Work at the 339 square metre site will form a café connected to the retail unit.

In consultation, Highland Council’s Stewart Eastaugh said a safe path used by adults and children en-route to school, as well as bakery customers, would be affected, but he added: “Losing this path will be an inconvenience to the public (but) I do not think the loss of the existing route is significant.”

A transport planning report also said there would be no significant impact despite a likely increase in site traffic using the premises.

The application was approved under planning officials’ delegated powers.
