The best bars in Inverness are set to be celebrated at an annual awards ceremony.

The Best Bar None Awards 2024 will take place on January 7 at the Mercure Hotel on Church Street.

18 premises are taking part in the awards, with a number of other venues and 140 persons attending.

Whilst each participating venue will be in the running for Gold, Silver, and Bronze Awards, there will also be special awards of Best Newcomer, Heart of the Community, and Innovation in Social Responsibility as well for the first time an overall Inverness Best Bar None Winner.

Each category will have an overall winner going forward to the national finals on March 27, 2025 in Stirling.

The event is again organised by Don Lawson, an Inverness businessman, member and current chairman of Inverness Pub Watch in conjunction with and close support of Inverness BID.

John McDonald, community safety manager at Inverness BID said: “Participation in Best Bar None demonstrates to the public, visitors, and residents that licensees are responsible operators and is now seen by many of the City Centre Licensed Premises as a platform to demonstrate their commitment to improving and maintaining a high level of standards.

“Inverness has remained buoyant continuing to attract investment in new business ventures which has seen a number of new ventures already in the city with hopefully more to come in 2025, which is a remarkable achievement.

“Whilst the economic climate remains challenging, Inverness and the wider Highlands continues to attract national and international inward investment in global technology, energy and major industry infrastructure investment and large-scale housing developments that will increase and expand opportunities for growth.”

The Best Bar None Awards have evolved to be a formal evening event comprising dinner, a ceremony and entertainment.

The evening will be compered by Don Lawson.

The Awards Ceremony will be introduced by Inverness BID Chair, Mr Gordon McIntosh with presentations conducted by Provost Glynis Sinclair.
