Belladrum has a feast of entertainment beyond the music to discover
Sponsored Editorial
Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival is well-known for it’s eclectic line-ups, with something for the whole family, but the festival has a lot more to offer when you’re taking a break from the music.
The Belladrum Estate is steeped in history, and one such spot is the Walled Garden. Home of the weird, wacky and wonderful, this is the perfect space to let you escape the hustle and bustle of the main arena.
With a central performance area, artisan food trucks, alternative health stalls plus lots of interactive exhibitions and learning spaces, this is a must-visit hot spot for everyone at the festival.
This is also where you will find the Free Range Acoustic Stage, made from an upside-down boat and programmed alongside the Glachbeg Croft Folk Club.
In this area, you’ll also find – new to Burke And Hair this year – the vintage arcad. Alongside the usual pub games, you’ll find games for kids (and adults!) of all ages. Pinball, anyone? And don’t forget to tune into Hugh Reed, The Velvet Underpants, Kirsty Law and Aurora Engine, while you’re there.
Venture down to the enchanted Wooded Dell, past the Ice House and Garden Stage and over the bridge, where you’ll find the Trailer Trash stage for your daily dose of Americana and country and where you can try your luck on the bucking bronco!
It’s also the home of Club Clan Bella VIP, the area for those looking for a bit of luxury.
Escape the crowds and make the most of the private bar, posh loos, dedicated entertainment programme and complimentary tea and coffee, plus lots more!
The Verb Garden will once again offer its rich programme featuring some of the best writers and spoken word artists in Scotland.
Fresh from her UK tour promoting her new collection of poetry In Public/In Private is award-winning poet, performer and theatre-maker Leyla Josephine, one of the most prominent Scottish spoken word artists performing in the country. She is a UK Slam champion, BAFTA nominated and was named on The List’s Ones To Watch 2022.
Also on the programme is, Ambrose Parry – the collaborative name for husband and wife Dr Marissa Haetzman and award-winning crime writer Christopher Brookmyre who between them under Ambrose Parry have written four books of historical crime fiction and world record-breaking solo cyclist Jenny Graham from Inverness who will be introducing her recently-published book Coffee First, Then The World: One Woman's Record Breaking Pedal Around the Planet.
In addition to this, the Verb Garden will offer a wide range of events, from whisky-tasting to poets and songwriters, further book readings, presentations and discussions, a children's book workshop, storytelling and the ever-popular Saturday night Poetry Slam whose previous winners have gone on to become Scottish and World Slam champions.
Expect non-stop nostalgia from former Spandau Ballet musician and EastEnders actor Martin Kemp who makes his Bella debut with his Back To The 80s DJ set plus tributes from Spiders On Mars, MacFloyd and Gimme ABBA. You won’t be able to resist dancing and singing along!
Back for 2023, Bella family favourites include the annual fancy dress competition, wrestling, BMX, pottery and weaving, arts and crafts, face painting, theatre and street performers, yoga and mindfulness classes for all ages plus special comedy headliners still to be announced.
Belladrum is the perfect escape and destination for the whole family.
