Belladrum wedding couple Sara Pearson and Mark Hearmon say this year’s theme of love was meant to be as they prepare to tie the knot

A wedding 20 years in the making feels like fate with Belladrum 2024 having the theme of love.

Sara Pearson and Mark Hearmon met in The Blue Nightclub in Inverness in 2004, and have been together ever since – getting engaged at Christmas 2022.

It may have come as a bit of a shock to friends and family, who Sara suspects had “lost all hope”, but straight away the pair knew there was only one place they wanted to tie the knot.

They have attended the Tartan Heart Festival many times throughout the years, falling in love with the relaxed atmosphere.

Their connection with the festival has only increased in recent years too, with Mark joining the Inverness British Legion Pipe Band and performing at Belladrum.

He says that it was the birth of their son that encouraged him to finally propose, and the pair are in agreement that their 20th anniversary and wedding coinciding with Belladrum’s 20th festival and the theme of love is the perfect scenario.

“We didn’t actually think about anywhere else, we wanted to do it at Belladrum straight away,” Sara explained.

“We love the festival because of the atmosphere and the people you bump into, but there’s also not a huge amount of planning that’s needed.

“You just rock up and it’s all there, and my dad is delighted that he’s not going to have to give a speech.

“I think everyone is looking forward to how relaxed it will be, and I quite like the fact that the theme is love for the 20-year anniversary, and it’s our 20-year anniversary.

“We decided before last year’s Belladrum that we were going to get married at the festival. This year, with the theme being love, it’s perfect. It’s meant to be.”
