Beauly ‘Santa’ suit cat swaps reindeers for truck as he hitches ride to Strathspey
A lonely little cat in a Santa suit made its way from the frozen ‘north’ to Carrbridge in a builder’s van, much to the surprise of the men.
The team from Compass Building & Construction Services were astonished to find the animal when they disembarked for work on the new flats on the site of the former Struan Hotel on the village’s main street.
They sought advice from the staff at the Landmark Adventure Park just over the road and before long appeals were going out to find its owners, whoever and wherever they be.

“The animal appears to have been in the van for some three days,” said one observer in Carrbridge, “because the guys said that’s how long they’d been off work. They were amazed to find the cat there when they got ready to resume work on the flats.
“It was in a red suit but painfully thin and not very festive looking.
“We were all pleased when contact was made on its behalf with the local cats protection team. We’re told that it’s going to a good home where it will surely be brought back to good health.”
Last night Peter Norgate contacted the Strathy to assure everyone that the cat was okay.
“I am the Strathspey Cats Protection Coordinator and although I’m away on holiday at the moment I can confirm that the cat has been handed over to Cats Protection as a stray.
“The cat came definitely from Beauly and appears to have hitched a lift!”
