Beauly road reopened after reported gas leak

PART of the main road into Beauly closed due to a gas leak scare near the village petrol station has now reopened.

Police and a local fire tender attended at Shuna in Station Road after they received a report at about 12.30pm from a member of the public saying there was a Calor Gas leak.

A fire service spokeswoman said the leak appeared to be isolated and all gas leak procedures were in place as they waited for a Calor Gas engineer to arrive.

One eyewitness who conacted the Inverness Courier earlier said he had been attempting to get home on foot from the railway station, but was unable to do so because of the cordon in place.

He said bus services were unable to pass through from either side of the village while vehicles, including lorries, were also parked up.
