The return of the much-loved miniature train to the Victorian Market is back on track.

It was a fixture in the market hall before that was transformed into the food hall which opened in 2022 - but there has been no sign of the train since.

A Highland Council spokesman said: “The much-loved model railway will be returning to the market in 2025. The council has been working with Inverness Model Club behind the scenes and next month the public will see work under way inside the market to prepare for the train’s return.”

It is understood plans could include an 80m track with a number of bridges and a livestream online.
