A862 Inverness to Beauly road closed between Bunchrew and Inchmore
POLICE have warned motorists to take care after heavy rain and a sudden thaw caused localised flooding on roads.
The A862 Inverness to Beauly road is currently closed between Bunchrew and Inchmore due to significant surface water and local diversions are in place.
The B862 Inverness to Fort Augustus road is also closed between Whitebridge and Fort Augustus due to drifting snow.
High rural routes are also being affected by heavy snow, particularly at Tomatin and Drumnadrochit.
And with snow still situated in outlying areas, police are also advising motorists to make sure both front and rear windscreens are clear of snow before setting off on any journeys.
"If you have a large amount of snow on the roof or the car, it is recommended to clear this from the vehicle so that when braking the snow does not cover the windscreen or into the view of others," said a police spokesman.
"Make sure to reduce your speed and drive according to the conditions of the road, allowing extra space between your own vehicle and the one in front. When braking, take in to consideration that stopping distances can be largely increased.
"If you are embarking on a long journey, please make sure you have a blanket and a flask with a hot drink to keep warm should delays occur. If you have a mobile phone, make sure it is fully charged before you set off and only use it when safely parked."

Away from the roads, there is ongoing rail disruption on lines between Inverness and Perth, Inverness and Aberdeen and Inverness and Kyle.
Rail users on the services between the Highland Capital and Aberdeen are being warned that a fallen tree is currently delaying journeys.
And cancellations are affecting travel between Inverness and Perth as a result of heavy snow in the Cairngorms. The weather is also preventing replacement buses from operating on the route.
