A COUPLE who raised more than £150,000 to transform Nairn’s West Beach play park in memory of their son were back in the spotlight this week.

Sam and Susan Hey were endorsing a design competition after scooping top prize last year for their play park improvement scheme.

The Vision for Nairn, made possible by the Heys’ Team Hamish charity founded as a legacy to their eight-year-old son Hamish who died of cancer in 2017, won the FutureTown Design Competition following a public vote.

And this week found them in Edinburgh at the launch of the 2019 awards, urging other towns to throw their hats in the ring for their town improvement schemes.

Mr Hey said: “We were honoured to win the FutureTown Design Competition. Being chosen by public vote crystallised our determination to move forward with confidence and deliver Our Vision for Nairn for the benefit of its community and visitors.”
