AN annual charity darts tournament in Inverness has raised a record £1400 for Highland Hospice – and also produced a surprise victory.
The darts tournament at the Clachnaharry Inn was first held six years ago and has raised funds for different charities. It involves two teams, the Auld Yins and the Young Guns, who had previously won the trophy five years in a row.
With this year’s game sitting at 7-7, the winning dart – a double 11 – was thrown by licensee Jim Gardiner to secure victory for the Auld Yins for the first time.
“I only play once a year,” said Mr Gardiner. “The place went wild. No-one expected us to win.”
Mr Gardiner thanked Liam Macaskill for organising the event and United Express Deliveries for sponsoring the trophies.
