A notorious Inverness cat has found a new home in a west coast village.

Milly – who was known locally as the Asda Cat because she liked nothing better than to visit the store – was put up for adoption by Inverness Cat Rescue.

In a Facebook post a spokesman said: "It is adoption day for Milly, who is on her way to a fantastic home in a beautiful west coast village.

"Milly became known locally as the Asda Cat, and she was seen in and around the local store regularly. However a store selling food is not the best place for a cat to be, and Milly's owner was asked to keep her out.

"This proved impossible, because Milly would have been very unhappy to be kept indoors, yet she made a beeline to her favourite store as soon as she would be allowed outside.

"Her owner very reluctantly came to the conclusion that her only option was to rehome Milly, and she brought her to us. However she can now be assured that Milly is heading for a home where she will be loved and cared for, and where there are no large supermarkets to tempt her away, her shopping days are over."

The spokesman added that they have since heard from Milly’s new owner that she is already settling in and was "purring away happily".
