A row over the length of time it was taking to make a sandwich landed a man in Inverness Sheriff Court after a night in police cells.

Benjamin Drummond (48), of Wester Inshes Place, Inverness, previously admitted shouting and swearing at his partner in their home on April 10.

Sheriff Eilidh Macdonald was told that they had been arguing.

Defence solicitor Marc Dickson said: “They were fed up of being cooped up for such a length of time. Neighbours heard them bickering and the police were contacted.”

Fiscal depute Robert Weir said: “The disturbance started over how long it took her to make a sandwich.”

Drummond was sentenced to 120 hours of unpaid community work.
