A popular music festival is set to return to Ardersier this September with an exciting weekend of events.

The Ardersier Folk Festival will take place between September 13 and 15, with most events happening in Ardersier War Memorial Hall.

Although this is only the fourth edition of the festival, the event is becoming an established annual event for folk music lovers in the area.

Ardersier Folk Club representative George Livingstone said they are looking forward to this year’s event.

He said: “The festival kicks off with the very popular Ceilidh Dance with the Andy Ross Scottish Dance Band who are very highly regarded by people all over Scotland.

“That is followed on Saturday afternoon by the family concert with local artistes such as Ardersier Forte, children from the local school and from Nairn, Penguins Tuxedo a Samba Drumming Band of young people, Mellow Yellow, another group of young people and Corralach, stalwarts of the club and the folk music scene throughout Scotland.”

The main concert on Saturday evening will see Orkney Band Saltfish Forty performing supported by local artist Dave Godden along with well-known singer, Sylvia McGowan.

The festival will end on Sunday with a closing concert headlined by Irish singer Anthony Tone supported by the finalists of the Paul Tonberg Song Writing Competition.

Mr Livingstone added: “We are grateful for the support of Historic Scotland which allows us to provide Weekend Ticket Holders with free access to The Fort and a fabulous venue to hold the Saturday afternoon session.

Fort George and Wendy’s cafe will also host live music sessions throughout the weekend.
