Staff with the Highland Archive service sprang to the rescue after a leak was spotted at one of its records stores due to heavy snow falls.

The incident happened on Friday after the Inverness area was hit by wintry weather and freezing temperatures.

A post on social media depicted the records after they had been removed from the store and placed in the safety of the large ceremony room at the Inverness Registration Office in Bught Road.

Alison Mason, Highland archivist at High Life Highland (HLH), said the reported leak was at one of its records stores.

“HLH Archives was notified and attended to the affected records on Friday,” she said.

“The damage was minimal and all of the records affected have now been completely dried.”

Yesterday, the team took on the job of replacing any water-damaged boxes and reboxing the now dried-out records.
