Application seeks green light for 14 new houses in Auldearn
Plans to build 14 houses to the east of Auldearn are under consultation.
Prestige Properties Highland Ltd, based in Inverness, has submitted a planning application to demolish an existing farm shed near Meadowfield Farmhouse on Moyness Road to create 14 serviced house plots.
According to the supporting statement, the development should have an indicative housing capacity of 30, with four affordable housing units and will include a garden.
It says: “It is hoped this approach will be welcomed and encouraged and we see this site as an early benefit to the Green Free Ports requirement for housing with the port of Ardersier relatively nearby.
“In terms of the Placemaking priorities for Auldearn, the development and future phases can assist in rounding off development of the settlement, can ensure a coordinated approach to the growth of the village and preserve and enhance the green network, particularly along the watercourse to increase biodiversity and habitat creation.”
This move is part of a wider plan to develop housing in the area, of which this represents a second phase.
A phase 1 application to build three housing plots to the south east of Scealladh Scear in Auldearn was approved in April 2023. This site as well as the one currently under consultation are part of the AU01 housing allocation in the new iteration of the Inner Moray Firth Local Development Plan.
The consultation is set to last until August 20.
