Appeal for food donations to help feed vulnerable in Inverness during coronavirus pandemic

Organisers behind an Inverness project which gives hot meals to vulnerable people are appealing for food donations during coronavirus outbreak.

Inverness Foodstuff and In This Together Café provides around 200 two and three course meals each week for those who are vulnerable or homeless.

A spokesman said: "In these difficult times we intend to continue this front line support for as long as we can.

"To enable this we are reliant on the health and goodwill of our volunteers and staff and importantly ongoing food donations from local business, suppliers and the general public.

"This is of course subject to any potential future lockdown restrictions/safety guidelines issued from Government."

Donations can be made at the following times:

Monday: between 12.30pm and 1.30pm and 5pm to 6pm at the In This Together Café in Church Street

Tuesday: between 1.30pm and 2.30pm at Inverness Foodstuff in Ness Bank Church (vegetarian)

Wednesday: betwwen12.30pm and 1.30pm at the In This Together Café in Church Street

Thursday: between 1.30pm and 2.30pm at Inverness Foodstuff in Ness Bank Church (vegetarian)

Friday: betwwen12.30pm and 1.30pm at the In This Together Café in Church Street

Saturday: between 2pm and 3pm at Inverness Foodstuff in Ness Bank Church (vegetarian).

Anyone who would like to make a donation is advised to email either chiefofficer@inthistogether.scot or operationsmanager.invernessfoodstuff@outlookcom or inthistogethercafe@inthistogether.scot to arrange donations with the advertised drop-off times.

The spokesman said: "Thank you for your support at this difficult time, you are literally helping to save lives."
