A SECOND Highland school has been hit by coronavirus following confirmation of a positive test at a secondary in Ross-shire.

NHS Highland says it has been made aware of a confirmed case of Covid-19 in a pupil at Dornoch Academy in Sutherland.

It is understood that 68 pupils have been told to self-isolate.

A spokesman said: "NHS Highland's Health Protection Team is working closely with the school and Highland Council education service to manage this situation.

"All necessary action has been undertaken and contact tracing is being carried out with all close contacts asked to self-isolate for 14 days as a precautionary measure."

A spokesman for Highland Council said: "We are aware of one confirmed case connected to Dornoch and therefore a number of close contacts have been contacted and required to self-isolate on advice from public health."
