Businesses across the UK returned after the Easter break to find they were the recipient of the new Supporters Awards from Inverness-based The Apprentice Store.
The awards recognise the contribution of those businesses who continue to support The Apprentice Store in its mission to create sustainable employment for young people in IT in the Highlands.
A total of 62 businesses have received awards ranging from two platinum awards for Cairn Consulting and Communities Housing Trust (CHT), who each fully fund an apprentice’s salary, to one star for businesses who fund one week’s salary.
Apprentice Store founder and managing director David Massey said: “Since we founded The Apprentice Store in 2016, we have created employment for 16 people. Today we have nine full-time members of staff and this would not be possible without the support of our clients.
“As a social enterprise we do not have shareholders and all profit is invested into our social purpose. Every purchase, however small, helps to pay a salary for a young person. The Supporters Awards is a way for us to say thank you to our clients but also to tangibly show the social impact of their support.”
Platinum award recipient CHT chief executive Ronnie MacRae said: “As a fellow social enterprise, we share many values with The Apprentice Store.
“Sustainable employment goes hand in hand with sustainable and affordable housing and we are proud to partner with The Apprentice Store to help young people to develop a career in IT.”
Fellow platinum awardee Ian Moore, from Cairn Consulting, said: “The fact I feel more than comfortable recommending The Apprentice Store to my clients speaks volumes about the quality of the services provisioned.”
