LEGO lovers had loads of fun at an open play day in Merkinch recently.

The free event at the community hall allowed youngsters to exercise their imaginations by getting creative with a variety of play sets.

Organiser Anna Skrzypek (39) said the event was inspired by her own personal love of Lego.

“There’s so much variety and Lego seems to last forever if you take care of it,” she said. “There are lots of plastic toys out there but nothing beats Lego.”

Adding to the fun firefighters Conor Cormack and Nicole MacDonald also came along to play with the children and give them some important safety messages.

Mr Cormack said: “These kind of events are helpful to raise awareness of fire safety, we go over how to avoid fires and what to do in the case of a fire.”
