A man stole over £300 worth of alcohol from two Inverness supermarkets within five days.

Steven Potter's first target was the Tesco store in Dores Road on April 28 where he picked up two bottles of Grey Goose vodka, removed the security tags and walked out.

On May 3 Potter (37), of Kessock Road, entered Tesco Inshes, picked up a variety of alcohol, worth a total of £226 and left without paying.

On both occasions, he was filmed on CCTV which led to police identifying him and later arresting him, fiscal depute Robert Weir told Inverness Sheriff Court yesterday (Monday).

None of the alcohol was recovered.

Sheriff Eilidh Macdonald deferred sentence on Potter until August 24 for his good behaviour.
