Inverness’s Eastgate Shopping Centre food court could soon sell alcohol for consumption on and off site after an application for a licence was lodged with Highland Council
Alcohol sales look set to be part of the transformation of the Eastgate Shopping Centre’s food court experience.
A licensing application has been lodged with Highland Council seeking permission to sell alcohol for consumption both on and off site.
Under the application, the food court is seeking permission to sell alcohol on and off-site between the hours of 11am and 10pm, seven days a week.
It is not yet known what hours the food court intends to operate, or the intended nature of its alcohol sales - such as restaurant-style dining, bars etc - or whether it intends to open as late as the licence hours would allow.
The Eastgate Shopping Centre has been approached for comment.
The new application comes amid ongoing development of a major revamp of the eating experience within the Inverness mall.
The site recently welcomed the opening of the Scran Café last month. This was hailed at the time as “just the beginning” of a wider transformation of the rest of the food court by CRU Hospitality, which has taken over the running of it after entering into a partnership with the mall.
The wider food court revamp, which has been dubbed Scran Kitchen, is set to deliver what CRU described as “a much larger and more dynamic dining experience”. This upcoming transformation will introduce a wider variety of food concepts, contemporary interiors, and a revitalised communal space – all designed to elevate the overall experience for Eastgate visitors.
The new alcohol licence application is presumably part of this plan.
