A MAN has been fined for abusive behaviour towards his partner.

Depute fiscal Fiona Murray told Sheriff Gordon Fleetwood that Thomas Gourlay (42) became abusive towards the woman at an address in Denny Street, Inverness on the night of January 2 and again the following morning when she returned home from work.

She told Inverness Sheriff Court that he had been annoyed because the woman hadn’t added him as a friend on Facebook though she had told him she needed to use the social media channel for work.

The fiscal said the couple had been in a relationship for nine years before separating in October last year then getting back together.

Solicitor Willie Young said: “He accepts he lost his composure.”

The relationship between the couple was now over, he added.

Sheriff Fleetwood fined Gourlay, from Glasgow, £450.
