Drivers on the A9 were facing disruption on Thursday morning - after a fallen tree and a lorry accident blocked or partially blocked the road in two places.

Traffic Scotland issued a warning to motorists to avoid the A9 north of the Tore roundabout after it was blocked northbound around three miles to the north.

In an update at 6.08am Traffic Scotland said police and road operator Bear Scotland was en route to tackle the issue.

A spokesperson said: "Three miles north of the Tore roundabout, [the] northbound carriageway is closed due to a fallen tree.

"Road users are advised to find alternative routes at this time. Police and road operator [are] en route."

Elsewhere, police were also understood to be present at an incident blocking the A9 south of Inverness at Daviot.

An accident involving a lorry has led to heavy tailbacks in both directions. It is understood to have happened just before 6am this morning.

Live traffic maps are showing heavy traffic on the A9 north of Tore and at Daviot.
