Diversions in place on A9 at Carrbridge after serious crash involving bus, lorry and car

The A9 at Carrbridge is currently closed in both directions, due to a road traffic collision.

Road users are being advised to use the available signed diversion route.

Traffic Scotland reported the closure at 6.58pm and updated the closure report just after 9pm.

The location of the incident has been confirmed as just the junction of the A9 and A95 North Aviemore.

“Motorists should expect longer than normal journey times,” said a spokesperson.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service reported that the accident had involve a bus, a lorry and a car.

Crews were sent from Aviemore, Kingussie, Carrbridge and Grantown to the scene.

“A special appliance ordered from Inverness was turned back on the way to the scene,” an SFRS spokesperson said.

The service was on the scene until 8.28 but has now withdrawn.

Northbound
Turn right at Granish onto A95 and follow the road and continue to Grantown on Spey at the A95/A939 Roundabout – Take the first exit and continue on the A939 to A939/A940 Junction – Turn Left onto the A939 and continue to the A939/A96 Junction – Turn Left onto Forres Road and continue on the A96 to Inverness – Thereafter follow permanent signing.

Southbound to Tomatin – A9 remains open – NOTE – Police Scotland are turning traffic at north Tomatin Junction

Southbound past Tomatin
For southbound Traffic, turn around at Tomatin and continue northbound on the A9 to Raigmore Interchange – Take the offslip to Raigmore interchange and take the third exit onto the A96 and continue to Nairn – Turn Right onto the A939 and continue to the A939/A940 Junction – Turn right onto the A939 and continue to Grantown on Spey – At the A939/A95 Roundabout, take the third exit and continue on the A95 until the A9 junction at Granish.

Or
A9 take the offslip to Raigmore interchange and take the third exit onto the A96 and continue to Nairn – Turn Right onto the A939 and continue to the A939/A940 Junction – Turn right onto the A939 and continue to Grantown on Spey – At the A939/A95 Roundabout, take the third exit and continue on the A95 until the A9 junction at Granish
