FIREFIGHTERS from Inverness and Drumnadrochit cut free a casualty after a car crashed on the A82 between Drumnadrochit and Urquhart Castle, Loch Ness-side, shortly after noon today.

The trunk road between Inverness and Fort William was blocked in both directions by the one vehicle incident.

Police said they received a report at 12.10pm and the fire and ambulance services were called out to attend. A police spokesman added that there was little information available on injuries to the casualty, but they didn't appear to be life threatening.

A spokeswoman for Scottish Fire and Rescue said a part-time unit from Drumnadrochit along with a full-time unit from Inverness attended, and firefighters cut the roof and doors off the vehicle to extract the casualty for the Scottish Ambulance Service.

She added that the "stop" call from the crews came in at 1.07pm, but they remained on scene for a time helping to keep the area safe for the vehicle recovery operation.
